ANZAC Day 2020: We Will Remember Them

Residents of the Dubbo electorate will be able to commemorate ANZAC Day from home this year with a broadcast of special services to honour our veterans and serving Defence personnel. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of traditional ANZAC Day services and events across the country, however Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said this provides even more reason to commemorate the day. “ANZAC Day has a renewed meaning as our community works together to stop the spread of COVID-19,” Mr Saunders said. “We must never forget those who have served this great country and ANZAC Day is …

MEDIA STATEMENT: Regional Media shutdowns

The COVID-19 pandemic is providing challenges unlike any we have seen before. Every single family and business is impacted to some extent, and I am mindful of the fact that regional media companies are not immune. However I am concerned at reports that circulated on Tuesday afternoon that Australian Community Media (ACM) is looking to shut down some of its mastheads, including some smaller ones in my electorate. The Wellington Times and Narromine News are important parts of the fabric that makes up those towns, and for that matter so is the Nyngan Observer, which shares its journalist with the …

The NSW Government has today confirmed the installation of a WaterNSW drought emergency pump in Burrendong Dam. The pump will be used to supply remnant water out of the Dam in the event of critically low dam levels. The pump network and associated operational apparatus has been constructed and commissioned – part of a $6.7million project that adds 16 gigalitres of precious additional town supply to communities in the drought-affected Macquarie valley. Inflows into Burrendong in April have lifted the storage capacity to above 12 per cent – up from 1.5 per cent in February – so the pumping equipment …
