Wellington’s youngest union players will soon benefit from new training equipment, thanks to funding from the previous NSW Government.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders announced $10,000 for the Wellington Junior Redbacks Rugby Union Club from the Local Sport Grant Program.
“It is so important we continue supporting our local sporting clubs. They are the life-blood of our communities and key to ensuring our kids live a healthy and happy lifestyle, “ Mr Saunders said.
“The grant will allow the club to purchase a line marker and training equipment, and also fund 10 people to participate in a First Aid course.
“For a small club like the Wellington Redbacks, this funding is a massive boost, and will benefit all 135 junior players, as well as future players for years to come!”
Wellington Junior Redbacks Rugby Union President Tom Whiteley said the club is thankful to receive the grant.
“Anything that can help our young players’ development is also going to help us in the future,” Mr Whiteley said.
Grants of between $2,000 and $10,000 per project were available through the Local Sport Grant Program.
