Private Thomas (Tom) Cohen was born at Mookerawa near Stuart Town in May 1881. He worked as a fitter in the area. He married, and in 1908, his wife Mary Lee Cohen gave birth to a daughter Lilian. By 1916, Cohen and his family had moved and were living in Stuart Town when Cohen enlisted on 13 March, 1916. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion. After a few months of training

Goolma Road upgrades completed

A $1.2 million upgrade to widen the main road linking Gulgong and Wellington is now complete, providing motorists with safer and more reliable journeys through the Central West. Funding to help preserve our endangered species – and the place they call home

One of the Wellington region’s true hidden gems is set to pivot in a new direction with some assistance from the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund. The Burrendong Arboretum has been granted $96,136 to upgrade its glasshouse, a key facility in the propagation of plants. RFDS to get a good “earn” from reverse vending machine partnership

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has welcomed a partnership between Return and Earn and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) that promises to be a winner for both. Return and Earn is a container deposit scheme that has been promoted by the NSW Government and sees 10c from drink containers returned to the person who recycles the product. New Check-In Assessments have been developed for Year 4, 6 and 8 students with the roll out starting next term for students in the Dubbo electorate. LLS rate relief to continue for our farmers
