Stage 1 of the Wiradjuri Garden project in Dubbo has opened, with Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders joining representatives from Dubbo Regional Council and local Aboriginal groups for the occasion. The opening event paid homage to the traditional owners of the land by way of a customary Welcome to Country by local Wiradjuri man Lewis Burns, along with a traditional smoking ceremony and performances by local indigenous dancers.   The NSW Government contributed $900,000 to the project, which had a $1.2 million value. Locals and outside user groups will have access to an upgraded kitchen at Toongi Hall, thanks to funding allocated to the facility through the NSW Government’s Crown Land Manager COVID1-9 Recovery Support Program. Like a 3D Rubik’s cube, a complex network of new and upgraded power, gas, water and telecommunication cables is in place underground to facilitate the new traffic lights at the upgraded Cobra Fitzroy intersection. Visitors to the Brocklehurst Pony Club will have access to seating and hot water, thanks to funding secured by Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders.
