As we commemorate Anzac Day – I’m sharing some local stories to recognise and remember those who sacrificed so much, so we can enjoy what we have today. — Robert Munckton, known as Bob or Bluey, was the first ‘man’ from Dubbo to enlist in the Australian Imperial Force on the 17th August 1914…although at just 19 years old he was really still a boy. War had been declared against Germany for just three days, when Bob returned home in the evening, and in a serious manner, asked his mother to allow him to “do his bit” for the Empire.

Brigadier-General James Heane is Dubbo’s most highly decorated soldier from the First World War. James was educated at Dubbo Superior Public School, and then Sydney Boys’ High, becoming an auditor and then a farmer in the Dubbo district. Ground-breaking moment for new hospital car park project

Work is now officially underway on a project that will alleviate parking stress at Dubbo Hospital. Renovation works almost complete at Gulgong RSL Club

Internal and external works that will enable Gulgong RSL Club to be an evacuation centre in the case of an emergency are almost complete. Replacing bridges to better connect our regional communities

An ageing bridge in the Mid-Western Regional Council local government area will be replaced under the NSW Government’s $500 million Fixing Country Bridges program to better connect regional communities and increase resilience to natural disasters.
