The grandstand at Dubbo’s Victoria Park No. 1 Oval will receive a much needed refurbishment, with $100,000 provided through the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the re-vamp will make a noticeable difference.
“The grandstand is one of the lovely features at Vic Park No.1, but there’s no doubt it’s seen better days, and needs some time and effort put into it to help increase its safety, comfort, and useability,” Mr Saunders said.
“The project will include the replacement of the flooring in some areas, along with painting and the installation of new aluminium seating.
“The modern aluminium seating will feature back rests, which will significantly improve the look, the quality and the durability of the grandstand, and encourage the continued spectating of community sport as well as regional, state and national sporting events.”
Dubbo Region Mayor, Councillor Stephen Lawrence, said the upgrades will help bring the grandstand back to life.
“The funding for this critical upgrade to such a historical and significant sporting facility in the heart of the city will be both a crowd pleaser and crowd favourite among sports fans alike,” Cr Lawrence said.
“The NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Funding will allow Council to replace the well-used and ageing seats, and provide a modern and eye-catching upgrade for such an iconic grandstand.”
