Seafood lovers across the Dubbo region will have the opportunity to sample some of the best NSW has to offer at this weekend’s Taste of Seafood Festival.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the event is being held in collaboration with the Dubbo Farmers Market, in the Ewen MacInnes Pavilion at the Dubbo Showground this Saturday from 8am until 2.30pm.
“The NSW fishing and aquaculture industries produce some of the most delicious, fresh seafood in the world – and now they’re bringing it to Dubbo,” Mr Saunders said.
“The event will feature fresh catch, cooking demonstrations, live music, and food stalls, in addition to all the usual farmers market vendors people have come to know and love.
“Stallholders will also help educate people on the importance of sustainable fishing and aquaculture, and the value of buying local!”
The Taste of Seafood Festivals are run by the Professional Fishers Association, with support from the NSW Government’s Eat More Seafood Grants Program.
The Program aims to promote the sustainability and quality of NSW seafood, the health benefits of seafood consumption, and the ways people can support sustainable fishing and aquaculture through their own purchasing choices.
As well as highlighting great seafood, the festivals also aim to promote sustainability, and put some of the state’s top regional tourism destinations on display, including Ballina, Bermagui, Coffs Harbour and Wallis Lake.
“Not only will this event be great for locals, it’ll help showcase Dubbo as a thriving metropolis and the capital of Western NSW,” Mr Saunders said.
“Locals already know this city is home to exceptional dining, stunning landscapes, and fantastic visitor experiences – and this is our chance to show that off!
“Whether you love seafood, or are yet to develop a love for it, I’d encourage everyone to get down to the Dubbo Showground this Saturday – there’ll be something for everyone!”
The Taste of Seafood Festival will take place on Saturday October 15 from 8am until 2.30pm in the Ewen MacInnes Pavilion at the Dubbo Showground. Entry via Wingewarra Street. Motorists are advised to be vigilant of pedestrians, especially children, when driving around the showground.
