STRONGER TOGETHER FOR HOLI

Members of the multicultural community will come together to share their culture thanks to funding from the NSW Government’s Stronger Together Festival and Events Grants program.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has announced $5,000 for ORISCON to host Holi, a multi-cultural festival, in partnership with Dubbo Regional Council and the Dubbo Nepalese Community.

“Holi is a colourful festival that celebrates spring, love and new life, with dancing, singing, and throwing powder paint,” Mr Saunders said.

“The Festival of Colours is a chance for us all to appreciate the wonderful diversity of our local area, and especially the many contributions of the Indian and Hindu communities to our region.”

ORISCON chairperson Gargi Ganguly said she was grateful for this support from the NSW Government.

“Holi has captivated the whole of the Indian subcontinent for centuries, so its fantastic we are able bring the wider community together to celebrate the diversity we have right here in Dubbo,” Ms Ganguly said.
