Boost for Seniors to Enjoy Their Retirement

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has today announced $16,871 for RSL LifeCare to purchase a four-person personal transport vehicle for the community.

“The residents have given so much to our community throughout their lives, and now in retirement many still contribute whether it’s through caring for grandchildren or volunteering,” Mr Saunders said.

“Regardless of how they choose to spend their retirement, it’s vital they are given every opportunity to benefit from the recreational and social activities a place like Horizons has to offer.

“This funding will give all residents, but especially those who are less mobile or more susceptible to this hot weather we’ve been having, better access to involve themselves in their community – which we know is so beneficial in our older age!”

RSL LifeCare Village Manager Julie Hall said she was excited and grateful to receive the funding.

“I was in disbelief when I heard the wonderful news we were successful in securing the grant,” Ms Hall said.

“The funding will be used to purchase a new golf cart, which will assist residents with reduced or limited mobility to access the facilities and activities!”

The Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 18,000 community projects since it commenced in 2009.

Applications for the 2023 Program open in May 2023.
