Dubbo Greyhound Racing Club (Dubbo GRC) is adding to an incredible weekend of activities in May, with heats of the Brother Fox Carnival confirmed for Saturday, May 22.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said Dubbo will be hosting visitors from right across the state, as the Rabbitohs host the Panthers at Apex Oval on Sunday May 23.
“Dubbo will be a hive of activity over that weekend in May, with the first NRL game ever played in the city being the main attraction on Sunday,” Mr Saunders said.
“But there are a range of other activities, including this special meet at the greyhound track on the Saturday night, and I’m encouraging visitors and locals to be part of the action.”
Formerly the Dubbo Cup, the 2021 series will elevate in status paying $40,000 to the winner and recognising local champion greyhound, Brother Fox.
Dubbo GRC President Shayne Stiff said he’s hoping it will be a fantastic week.
“Brother Fox was a champion, and drew thousands to the track including an exhibition race in 1985 where they were 10 deep along the fence at Dawson Park to see him,” Mr Stiff said.
“We will also be running the Bill & Peg Miller Cup, with $10,000 to the winner.”
Heats of the Brother Fox and Bill & Peg Miller races will be run on Saturday May 22, with the Finals on Friday May 28.
