Final round of funding available as T20 World Cup leaves its legacy

Cricket clubs, associations and local councils within the Dubbo electorate are being encouraged to apply for funding through the final round of the NSW ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Cricket Legacy Fund.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said previous rounds of the fund, which was set up to provide benefits in the wake of the Womens T20 World Cup, hosted and won by Australia, has already helped the region.

“Work being done at the Dave Martin Nets and the widening of the John McGrath Oval synthetic wickets in Dubbo was funded through this program, and it has been great to see work progress to the point where those projects are almost complete,” Mr Saunders said.

“Funding has also allowed for the hosting of carnivals in the region, which has provided an economic boost which will be needed again as communities look to recover in the post-COVID period.

“This will be the final round of funding through this program, so it’s a chance for cricket clubs and councils to get in and apply before the 2020/21 season hopefully gets underway later in the year.”

Applications for the fund opened on Wednesday, July 22, and will close on Monday, August 24.
