Parents in Wongarbon and Geurie are set to benefit from a NSW Government investment in after school care.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has today announced funding for the Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre to operate its after school care service at Wongarbon Public School.
“We all know how important these services are for the community and the flexibility it provides to families, but it’s not always viable to run in some of our smaller towns, where demand can be low,” Mr Saunders said.
“Great after school care services are essential to communities and young children, providing a safe place to play and socialise.
“I’m proud that the NSW Government has committed to supporting the work-life balance of local families in this way.”
The Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre, operating as Connecting Community Services, also runs After School Care at Dubbo North, Buninyong, Dubbo South and Dubbo West Public Schools, as well as St Laurence’s Primary School and Macquarie Anglican Grammar School.
The service also collects children from St John’s and the Dubbo Christian School.
CEO Michelle Redden said “the funding means a lot”.
“It will allow us to offer the small townships of Wongarbon and Geurie after school care, allowing parents to work full days in either Dubbo or Wellington,” Ms Redden said.
