Construction company Hansen Yuncken has been awarded the tender to construct more than 350 additional car spaces at Dubbo Hospital, Member for the Dubbo Electorate Dugald Saunders has announced.
The NSW Government has committed $30 million to deliver the Dubbo Hospital Car Park project which will include:
- A new multi-storey car park on the western side of the campus close to the new Western Cancer Centre
- A new ground level (at-grade) car park on the south eastern side of the campus near the hospital’s main entrance and Emergency Department; and
- Infrastructure upgrades such as roadways, footpaths, hospital access, lighting and security.
“For years the people of Dubbo have been crying out for increased parking at our hospital, and I actually launched a petition during the 2019 election campaign calling on the NSW Government to prioritise this infrastructure,” Mr Saunders said.
“This exciting milestone follows the unveiling of schematic designs for the new car parks in November 2020, when the Minister for Health, Brad Hazzard visited Dubbo Hospital.
“When complete, the Dubbo Hospital Car Park project will support the significant uplift of services at one of the busiest regional referral hospitals in NSW. The project will also support staff by providing additional parking in the new multi-storey car park, which will free up more spaces for patients and visitors close to the hospital’s main entry and Emergency Department.”
The Dubbo Hospital Car Park project is in addition to the NSW Government’s major expansion and upgrade of hospital services including the $150 million Dubbo Hospital Redevelopment Stages 3 and 4 and the $35 million Western Cancer Centre, which includes a $25 million contribution from the Federal Government.
Both redevelopments are on track for completion by mid-2021.
Site establishment, and construction on the new car park is set to begin in the coming weeks and scheduled to be completed in early 2022.
