Saunders praises work of staff at Gulgong MPS

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has praised staff at Gulgong’s Multi-Purpose Service (MPS), who have continued to provide wonderful care for residents of the town while the hunt for a new visiting medical officer (VMO) continues.

Mr Saunders visited the centre recently and said the dedication of staff is something the community should celebrate.

“The nursing staff at the centre continue to do a tremendous job, and while there is no permanent doctor at the moment, I want the community to know they are being well looked after by the staff on-site, and the Telehealth specialist services that are available,” Mr Saunders said.

“I understand why people in the Gulgong region have been concerned about the situation because health services are so important. That’s exactly why I visited the MPS and talked to staff and residents.

“But I want to reassure all members of the local community that if you go to the MPS you will continue to receive top quality care, and the people residing in the centre are being very well looked after by the nursing staff.

“I am also heartened to hear that the Western NSW Local Health District is working very hard to find another doctor to service the centre, and hopefully there will be some good news on that front in the not-too-distant future.”
