Rodeo chutes and additional portable cattle yards will be installed at Mudgee Showground thanks to funding provided by the NSW Government.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders announced on Tuesday that Mudgee Show Society had successfully applied for $47,360 through the Crown Reserve Improvement Fund (CRIF).
“Showgrounds are a vital part of the fabric of regional communities, and they provide a location for so many different organisations to go about their business,” Mr Saunders said.
“The Mudgee Show Society had identified a need for rodeo chutes to be constructed, and also for some portable cattle yards to be made available, and I am glad to be able to help make those wishes come to fruition.
“The show society will now be able to expand what it offers and make the show mean more to even more people.”
Mudgee Show Society secretary Allison Beer said the new equipment will allow for further events to be held.
“We have plans to host another rodeo later in the year, and in the past we’ve had to hire the equipment from over near Branxton, so we’re saving that cost while having the capability to purchase our own equipment, which is great,” she said.
“The cattle yards will allow us to add to our existing yards and we can use it for other events like showjumping, which is another area where we are looking to host more competitions in the future.”
The 2021 Mudgee Show will be held this weekend, and tickets are available for purchase via 123Tix, or alternatively arrangements can be made for people who wish to purchase their tickets at the gate.
