New irrigation for Dubbo Equestrian Facility

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders believes the installation of an irrigation system at the Dubbo Eventing and Showjumping Association (DESA) complex will help take the facility to the next level.

Mr Saunders has announced $12,500 in funding for the club, which draws members from a wide part of the western region, to complete the work at its base near Brocklehurst, with the benefits being massive for everyone who uses the facility.

“In normal times, particularly in summer, the main arena gets quite dusty,” Mr Saunders said.

“The irrigation will really help with ongoing dust suppression, along with the overall quality of the surface, making it more comfortable for horses and riders.

“The club hosts some fantastic events, has regular coaching clinics, and really is a fantastic place to be for all those involved in showjumping and any equestrian discipline.”

DESA president Dale Frew said members of the organisation are excited to be receiving financial support for the project.

“We’ve tried a lot of times to get some sort of grant for this particular purpose so we were astounded to hear the news because we thought all our cards had been played,” she said.

“We were really happy to hear the news and we look forward to a future with a greater riding surface for our riders and our horses and makes us look more professional.”
