A young primary producer from Narromine has been selected to participate in the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Young Farmer Business Program’s individual coaching program.
Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders met the participants at their first coaching session at Narromine’s Soul Food Depot on Tuesday, and said it was fantastic to see Billy Browning chosen to take part in the 10-month program.
“Billy is a great example of the passion and drive of the young primary producers in our region,” Mr Saunders said.
“We know that starting, running or growing a farming business isn’t easy, but a business coach will help Mr Browning and the other young producers get the skills they need to run a more productive and profitable business.”
The program provides one-one-one business coaching with Richard Groom, a business coach with over 20 years’ experience working with primary producers to help young farmers to expand their business aspirations and to reach their goals.
Mr Browning manages his family’s irrigated and broad-acre cropping farm near Narromine, and he gave his fellow participants a tour on Wednesday.
“As a business, we want to make sure we are heading in the right direction, we want to be challenged and asked the questions we sometimes forget or are scared to ask ourselves, Mr Browning said.
“Hopefully it can help me grow as an individual and as a business going forward.”
The participating businesses will be sharing their learnings throughout the coaching journey with the Young Farmer Business Program’s broader community via monthly video blogs on social media.
