Local councillors hit the ground running

Newly elected councillors are being urged to participate in comprehensive webinars to provide them with the know-how to serve the best interests of the local community.

The NSW Government is holding a 12-week series of Hit the Ground Running webinars to support the councillors to fulfil their civic responsibilities to the best of their abilities.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders commended the newly elected Dubbo Regional, Mid-Western Regional and Narromine Shire councillors for hitting the ground running, and encouraged them to take advantage of the webinars.

“Our local councillors are integral to ensuring our local council provides our community with the infrastructure, facilities and services we need and deserve,” Mr Saunders said.

“That’s why the Office of Local Government is holding a series of Hit the Ground Running webinars between February and April to arm councillors with the knowledge to fulfill their very important civic responsibilities.

“These comprehensive webinars will cover a councillor’s role and responsibilities, financial management, council meetings, the code of conduct, working together, strategic planning, Crown Lands, water services, and professional development.

“I congratulate our local councillors on earning the trust of our local residents to serve as their community leaders over the next three years and encourage them to participate in these worthwhile webinars.”
