Member for Dubbo, Dugald Saunders was joined by Mayor of the Mid-Western Region Des Kennedy to officially open the Gulgong Adventure Playground today.
Jointly funded by Council and the NSW Government through its Clubgrants Infrastructure Grants Program, the purpose-built playground completes a recreational precinct in Gulgong within walking distance of the Gulgong Pool, Billy Dunn Oval and the all new Gulgong Skate Park.
“We have seen in other locations that these adventure playgrounds provide a great environment for children to get out and play, and enjoy a healthy lifestyle,” Mr Saunders said.
“The NSW Government is proud to have been able to work with Mid-Western Regional Council to provide a wonderful facility for the community of Gulgong.”
The playground design was selected following community consultation that sought feedback on eight design concepts submitted as part of the tender process.
Cr Kennedy said the precinct is a destination for parents and children throughout the Region.
“The facilities in this recreational precinct will appeal to families with children of all ages, parents can take their kids to the pool and a barbecue at the Adventure Playground while older children can enjoy the nearby skate park,” Cr Kennedy said.
“The community called for a playground with interactive play equipment and Council has delivered on that with wheelchair accessible equipment, flying fox, shelters, picnic tables and barbecue.
“This playground has already been well-used in the two months it’s been operational and will be enjoyed by the Region’s small children and parents for many years to come.
“I thank the NSW Government for supporting Council to deliver this project for the Region.”
Gulgong Adventure Playground is located next to Gulgong Pool on Nandoura Street, Gulgong and is open to the public during daylight hours.
