Grant to expand Dubbo Global Fusion Festival

An inclusive event bringing together Indigenous and multicultural residents is one of over 160 to benefit from the NSW Government’s Stronger Together Grants program.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has announced $9000 for Connective Indigenous Corporation (CIC) to expand its Global Fusion event.

“Global Fusion is quite unique because CIC partners with multicultural organisations, like See You in Dubbo, to deliver an event that celebrates the many cultures – ancient and newly arrived – that make up our community,” Mr Saunders said.

“The inaugural event earlier this year was a tremendous success, and this funding will enable CIC to expand the food, entertainment and activities on offer!

“Festivals like this are just what Dubbo needs to help celebrate our diverse communities and bring people together in family-friendly environments.”

Groups that applied for funding were awarded between $5,000 and $15,000 to host their events.

CIC director Rob Salt said collaboration and partnerships were key to a successful event, which is set to take place early next year.

“This event is about celebrating multiculturalism, but it’s open for everyone to attend and enjoy the richness that Dubbo has in regard to diverse cultures and backgrounds,” Mr Salt said.

“We’re at the end of a very challenging two or three years of COVID, so we’re confident that when people see others yarning and connecting, that’ll hopefully encourage people to come out to celebrate the diverse cultures that we have.”

Applications are now open for the NSW Government’s Stronger Together Project Grants. Applications close at 5pm Friday, 26 August. More information about the grants can be found at https://multicultural.nsw.gov.au/grants
