They are the smiling faces that light up their grandkid’s worlds and they are the helping hand for parents, so now it’s time to say a big thank you by nominating your Local Grandparent of the Year.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the Local Grandparent of the Year Awards are a highlight of Grandparents Day on Sunday, 25 October.
“There’s no denying it’s been tough on our grandparents this year with COVID-19 meaning they have had to isolate more than most to keep themselves safe,” Mr Saunders said.
“Grandparents Day is the perfect opportunity to show grandparents just how much they are loved and appreciated.
“We have some truly inspiring grandparents in all parts of the Dubbo electorate and it would be great to see them honoured.”
The Local Grandparent of the Year winner can be nominated for the big gong which is the NSW Grandparent of the Year Award.
Acting Minister for Seniors Geoff Lee said grandparents are often the glue which holds families together.
“It’s been a tough year with COVID and isolation so let’s celebrate all the good things that our grandparents do for our families and communities,” Mr Lee said.
“Grandparents Day is the perfect time to shine a spotlight on these special people and give them the recognition they deserve.”
