Funding for sun safety infrastructure at Dubbo Dirt Bike Club

Spectators watching the fast-paced action at Dubbo Dirt Bike Club will be able to do so in a sun-safe manner thanks to funding announced by Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders.

The club has been allocated $13,000 through the Local Sports Grants Program, which will be put towards the construction of sun protection shelters at the Morris Park motorsport facility.

“We already have one of the best racing facilities at Morris Park, and when you have that it is only natural that you will attract spectators,” Mr Saunders said.

“It is vital that people are able to not only be comfortable when they are watching sports, but that they are provided with shaded areas. We know the significant damage the sun can do so it is wonderful that I can help Dubbo Dirt Bike Club provide shade for its spectators.”

Dubbo Dirt Bike Club president Bec Eade said such facilities were vital for a family-oriented sport like motorcycle racing.

“It’s one of the major things that riders and families have talked about needing, and that includes locals and also visitors who appreciate really good riding facilities,” she said. “These sun shades will contribute to a safe and really pleasant family environment at the track.”
