In a major win for racing fans, and fans of a good time, Dubbo turf club will host a Derby Day meeting on Saturday October 30 – the first since 2019.
With the easing of restrictions from Monday October 11, Derby Day is expected to be the first big event for Dubbo, with a capacity of up to 3,000 people allowed.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said it’s a great way to get people back together after a tough couple of years.
“This will be one of those nice opportunities for Dubbo as we come out of lockdown, and it’s a fantastic way to support an industry which puts a lot back into the local community,” Mr Saunders said.
“Derby Day at Dubbo is one of those ‘must do’ events for many people from right across the region. Knowing it’s locked and loaded for the last Saturday in October gives a bit of certainty, and I’d encourage everyone to get tickets quickly, as I think they’ll be pretty hot property.”
The General Manager of the Dubbo Turf Club Vince Gordon said the track is in great condition, and he’s hoping the day will provide a boost for everyone.
“We are looking at this as being a bit of a milestone party for the city. It’ll be great to get together with your friends and family, and the track has never been better,” Mr Gordon said.
“Our club, along with the trainers and jockeys here, have continued to operate during COVID-19, and we’re proud to support the indirect employment of around 200 people locally, so it’s now also nice to have a big event to look forward to at the end of the month.
Tickets are available to purchase online from 123tix.
