Wellington golfers and spectators will soon be able to enjoy the great outdoors in a sun-safe manner thanks to the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant program (LSGP).
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has today announced $9,300 for Wellington Golf Club to install sun shades at the clubhouse.
“The Wellington Golf Club is a popular venue for functions, as well as a gathering point for golfers,” Mr Saunders said.
“However, there’s currently no shade outdoors, and indoors fills up fast.
“This funding will allow for the installation of sun shades for the outdoor area, allowing the club to cater to more people.
“We all know the significant damage the sun can do, so I’m grateful the NSW Government can assist the Wellington Golf Club to provide some much needed shade.”
Wellington Golf Club committee member Marie Cornish said she was “pretty excited” about the grant.
“The outdoor area is a great spot for everyone to sit and enjoy, from the golfers to the patrons,” Mrs Cornish said.
“We also get school kids here for sport, who often have to sit around in the sun while they take turns in practicing.
“Thanks to this grant, our outdoor area will now be more accessible for people of all ages!”
