Buy from the Bush this Christmas to help flood-affected communities bounce back

We’re bringing a taste of the Dubbo electorate to the big smoke of Sydney this week when the two-day Buy from the Bush Christmas market pops up at The Rocks on Friday and Saturday.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said Narromine’s Dumble Collective and Dubbo’s Saddler and Co. will travel hundreds of kilometres to showcase their wares to thousands of Sydneysiders doing their Christmas shopping.

“The #buyfromthebush Christmas market will be back better than ever after a COVID-induced two-year hiatus,” Mr Saunders said.

“Christmas trade is usually the busiest time for bush businesses, but this year’s record floods across most of the State have caused huge disruptions to their operations.”

Mr Saunders said small businesses are the lifeblood of regional communities, keeping locals in jobs and injecting money back into the local economy.

“We already know regional NSW is brimming with some of the most unique fashion, leather goods, jewellery, baked goods, art, stationery, linen, candles, homewares, accessories and childrenswear, and now we’re putting it on show in Sydney,” he said.

“My message is simple: if you know someone living in or heading down to Sydney, get on the blower and tell them to go to the markets and #buyfromthebush this Christmas. If you’re unable to head down yourself, you can also show your support by shopping online.

“Your support could be the difference between a bush business keeping its doors open this Christmas.”

The pop-up market will kick off from 11am until 8pm on Friday and Saturday. Buy From The Bush will also host an ‘Hour For Eugowra’ flood-raising auction at 2pm on Saturday.
