Boosting access to life-saving cancer treatment

Patients at the Western Cancer Centre will have more convenient access to treatment, thanks to 20 new car spaces opened near the entrance.

Member for the Dubbo electorate, and Minister for Western NSW, Dugald Saunders welcomed the “significant milestone” in the NSW Government’s $30 million Dubbo Hospital car park project, after 40-spaces were opened on the eastern side in November 2021.

“The Dubbo Hospital redevelopment has been a game-changer for healthcare in our region, but more services means greater demand for parks,” Mr Saunders said.

“When you’re undergoing any kind of treatment, but particularly for cancer, the last thing you need to be worrying about is parking.

“This new street level car park is exclusively for patients, to provide more convenient access to the Western Cancer Centre and its life-changing services.”

Minister for Regional Health Bronnie Taylor said the new multi-storey car park is under construction and will open later this year.

“Once complete, the project will provide more than 350 additional car parking spaces, significantly boosting the overall parking capacity on campus, and improving access to one of the busiest regional hospitals in NSW,” Mrs Taylor said.

The NSW Government is delivering the $30 million Dubbo Hospital Car Park project to support the significant uplift in services as a result of Dubbo Hospital’s $306.3 million transformation which included a new three-storey clinical building and Western Cancer Centre.

In addition to the new car parks, the project also includes infrastructure upgrades including new roadways, footpaths, hospital access, lighting and security.

  1. I would like to know when I can have my PET scan in Dubbo rather than travel to Sydney every four months.
