The Gulgong Showground Pavilion is set to receive some much-needed TLC thanks to a grant from the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has announced $93,460 for the Gulgong Showground Land Manager to conduct repairs and upgrades to the Pavilion.
“The Pavilion is the beating heart of Gulgong Showground and a building that many of the town’s residents hold dear,’ Mr Saunders said.
“The showground is a wonderful community asset, home to local groups from horse and vintage motorcycle riders to the bird club. It also attracts visitors from far and wide for the biennial Clay Gulgong festival, sheep sales and, of course, the show!
“This grant will enable the land manager to undertake repairs and upgrades including pavilion foundation works, downpipes and guttering, storm water drainage, barge boards and Canteen drainage.”
Land manager secretary-treasurer Judy Eady said the committee was determined to conserve the historic building for the community to use.
“For the townspeople it’s a bit of an icon,” Mrs Eady said.
“We’re extremely happy to have received this funding and the more we can improve things at the showground the better for the community and that’s our ultimate aim.”
