All-weather boost for Mudgee Playgroup

Children at Mudgee Playgroup will be able to play outside, rain, hail or shine, thanks to a grant from the NSW Government.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the group has been given $19,306 to upgrade the centre’s play infrastructure, including soft fall and a sandpit, along with an extension of the undercover play area.

“Mudgee Playgroup is truly run by the community, for the community, and the parents behind it are extremely dedicated,” Mr Saunders said.

“But the options for playing outside under cover are limited, especially when it’s raining.

“This funding will enable the committee to invest in this amazing community asset for  the next generation of kids.”

Mudgee Playgroup volunteer coordinator Kim Gribble said the parents are “blown away” by the grant.

“We’re all volunteers and we work tirelessly on fundraising through little initiatives,” she said.

“So to get this huge sum to be able to invest  into the local community – that’s a lot of Bunnings sausages!

“We’ve got some great spaces to play with the kids, but the playgroup’s been here for 20 years, and we just wanted to invest into it and make something that’s going to be here for another 20 years.”
