Residents and businesses in Mudgee will be better prepared for flood risks thanks to $100,000 in funding for Mid-Western Regional Council as part of the NSW Government’s Floodplain Management Program.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the funding will help the council to better understand and manage local flood levels, risk and exposure in their community.
“I congratulate Mid-Western Regional Council on successfully securing this funding for the MWRC Floodplain Risk and Management Study and Plan, which will help to keep the community safe from floods,” Mr Saunders said.
“Earlier this year council completed Stage 1 of the flood study works and this funding will allow council to get going to Stage 2.”
The NSW Government’s Floodplain Management Program grants assist with flood studies and flood risk management studies, as well as the implementation of works to reduce flood risk such as flood levees, flood gates, warning systems, house raising or purchase in high risk areas.
