A tireless contributor to the Mudgee community has been recognised with a Local Achievement Award as part of the 2022 NSW Seniors Festival.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders recently presented an award to Lea Leisfield, who has been a member of the Lions Club of Mudgee for more than 20 years and also volunteers her time for Meals on Wheels and the Mudgee Show Society.
“Lea was an outstanding primary school teacher, and since retiring she’s dedicated much of her spare time to helping others,” Mr Saunders said.
“Seniors like Lea play a pivotal role in our communities. They don’t do it for the recognition but they deserve it.
“So on behalf of the Mudgee community: thank you Lea for everything you do!”
Lea was pleasantly surprised and very humble about her award.
“You’ve got to get involved, someone has to!” she said.
“I want to keep going for as long as I can.”
