Saunders backs $20m regional event fund

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has backed the NSW Government’s $20 million Regional Events Acceleration Fund, which is now open, saying it will provide a boost to the region.

Mr Saunders said the NSW Nationals are creating a safer and stronger regional NSW by creating valuable jobs and boosting the local economy, while keeping people COVID safe.

“This funding will help organisers put on events for our local community, as well as helping cover the cost of equipment needed to ensure events are COVIDSafe,” he said.

“This is great news for places like Dubbo, Wellington, Narromine, Trangie and Mudgee as we are the premier location for events and this funding will go a long way towards allowing us to host world-class events in our own backyard.

Applications for the Regional Events Acceleration Fund close at 5pm on Friday 17 December 2021, or when funding is fully committed.

Event organisers, regional NSW councils, not-for-profit organisations, sporting bodies and Aboriginal Land Councils are eligible to apply for grants. For further information about the fund, including program guidelines, applications and eligibility, go to www.nsw.gov.au/REAFund.
