Members of the Dubbo Kart Club will be able to compete in safety thanks to funding announced by Member for the Dubbo Electorate Dugald Saunders today.
Mr Saunders said the club has secured $7,440 through the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program.
The funding will allow the club to complete safety upgrades to the track and installation of safety fencing at the Lincoln County Raceway.
“The Dubbo Kart Club currently has more than 80 members, and almost half of those are regularly racing regionally as well as at a state and national level,” Mr Saunders said.
“This money will be used to replace an infield catch fence as well as to improve kerbs and ripple strips.
“These safety measures will ensure the track is kept to a high standard, so the facility can continue to attract major karting events to Dubbo.”
The $4.6 million Local Sport Grant Program aims to increase regular and ongoing participation opportunities in sport and active recreation in NSW.
Dubbo Kart Club president Karl Ross said safety is a priority for his committee and other members of the organisation. “These upgrades show the importance of safety at the track to our members and travelling competitors when it comes to high-speed recreational motorsport,” Mr Ross said.
