Motorists travelling between Gulgong and Wellington are set to benefit from a new project to widen Goolma Road at Two Mile Flat.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the NSW Government has committed $1.2 million in funding to widen the road and provide safer journeys for motorists.
“Goolma Road is the main road linking Mudgee and Gulgong to Wellington, and this upgrade will provide vital support to local residents, commuters, visitors, and the freight industry,” he said.
“The upgrade involves shoulder widening, reshaping the road, tree clearing, drainage works, a clear zone, and installing safety barriers to provide a safer and more forgiving road environment for motorists.
“The NSW Government has partnered with the Mid-Western Regional Council to deliver this project that will ultimately improve safety to ensure those who set off on a journey return home safely.”
Work will start on Monday, 19 October, and is expected to be completed in January 2021.
Work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, weather permitting.
Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience while this important safety improvement work is carried out.
