Members of the region’s real estate fraternity have enjoyed a chance to discuss industry issues with Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation, The Hon Kevin Anderson MP, during a visit to Dubbo.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders facilitated the meeting, where a range of topics were discussed, including residential tenancy and future zoning and planning issues.
“It was a very informal gathering and a relaxed environment that encouraged the agents to be upfront with Minister Anderson when it comes to some of the issues that have presented themselves, especially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr Saunders said.
“In recent times I have been very vocal about the need for councils and all stakeholders to work together to sort out the housing crisis we are experiencing, and it was also good to have the agents together to listen to what they think needs to be done to alleviate the housing stress that so many regional communities are experiencing.”
Real Estate Institute of NSW – Orana president Adam Wells said the forum was a good chance for local agents to directly seek answers to some of the pressing industry issues.
“It’s rare that as a local group we get the chance to have a direct meeting with the Minister that oversees the industry, and I’d like to thank Dugald and Minister Anderson for making it happen,” Mr Wells said.
“There’s a lot of issues that are arising in real estate, across the entire sector, and to be able to share those and put them on the radar of those in power means our concerns have been heard, and hopefully we will find a way forward.”
