Outdoor areas to be built at Macquarie Homestay

Macquarie Homestay will be able to help create a positive space for guests thanks to funding secured by Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders.

Mr Saunders said the organisation which houses guests from out of town while loved ones are receiving medical treatment in Dubbo had successfully applied for $24,825 which will help it construct walking paths, shaded seating areas and sensory gardens for guests to rest and exercise.

“Macquarie Homestay has been vital for those travelling to Dubbo for medical treatment since its opening,” Mr Saunders said.

“This funding will allow guests to go for walks safely with their family and friends, and sit outside in shaded areas.

“I am proud to be able to direct this funding to Macquarie Homestay, as I know this will help the guests with their mental health and wellbeing.”

Macquarie Homestay Managing Director Rod Crowfoot said the new infrastructure will have a positive impact on guests.

“When we got the call that we were successful for this funding, we were tickled pink, as this will make a big difference to our guests and families who stay as part of their treatment,” he said.
