We find ourselves once again in uncertain times with the COVID-19 outbreak in the Sydney’s Northern Beaches region. With Christmas fast approaching, it is just as important as ever for all of us to keep up-to-date with the situation at https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19 and follow the health advice. It’s also vital that people continue to practice good hand hygiene and physical distancing, stay home if sick, and get tested. We lost Easter to this pandemic – we don’t want to lose Christmas as well.

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the Year 12 students in our region who received their HSC results on Friday. In a normal year finishing your HSC is an outstanding achievement – to do so in a year like 2020 is a real credit to the dedication and talent of the students, their families and their school communities! While everyone has done a great job to reach this far, there have been some wonderful results from our region and those students deserve a high level of praise:
- Jarrod McMurray from the Dubbo School of Distance Education achieved a First In Course result for his efforts in the industrial technology subject. He also made the Top Achiever list.
- Hannah Herbert (Dubbo College Senior Campus) and Joshua Barnes (St Johns College Dubbo) made it onto the Top Achiever list.
- James Joseph, also from St Johns College, was named on the All-Round Student list
- Another 59 students were included on the Distinguished Achievers Honour Roll (full list at https://dugaldsaunders.com.au/amazing-results-for-hsc-class-of-2020/)

Families across the Dubbo electorate will benefit from upgraded facilities thanks to grants from the NSW Government’s Quality Learning Environments program.
Among the six successful applicants are Gowrie Dubbo, which received $15,000 for creation of a sandpit with decking, a path and landscaped grounds, and Gulgong Preschool, which received nearly $13,000 to replace old storage cupboards with a storeroom, and replace security fencing.
