New playground facility opened in Trangie

Children in the Trangie region have a new playground to enjoy, with work completed on a facility adjacent to Burns Oval.

The NSW Government contributed $220,000 to the project through the Stronger Country Communities Fund, and Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said there now plenty on offer for families.

“This whole area just has a new feeling to it, thanks to the upgrade of this park and playground,” Mr Saunders said.

“There’s climbing equipment, slippery dips, a flying fox and so much more that will keep kids occupied and encourage them to get outdoors and enjoy some physical activity.

“This forms part of a masterplan for the Burns Oval precinct, and ties in with work being done by Narromine Shire Council on the oval itself, the nearby tennis club and the town’s swimming pool.

Narromine Shire Council Craig Davies said the quality of the new facility had not only drawn the attention of Trangie locals, but others within the region were also paying it a visit.

“It’s being very well used by the young people of Trangie already, and we’re getting people from Narromine out here as well. That shows how good it is,” he said.

“It’s the kids area in what will be a dynamic sporting complex in the heart of Trangie, and it’s great to see a modern facility of this nature in a little country town.”
