Lighting to be added to Glen Willow precinct

The Glen Willow sporting precinct in Mudgee will be improved, with nine lighting poles to be installed along a pathway leading the complex.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders announced $50,000 worth of funding had been allocated to Mid-Western Regional Council to complete the project, which will improve safety in the Pitts Lane area.

“We already know that Glen Willow is one of the premiers sporting complexes in regional NSW, and it draws big crowds to major events,” Mr Saunders said.

“In recent times the NSW Government has announced significant funding to broaden the complex to be a hub for community sport, and this lighting will allow for safe access to Glen Willow along that particular point of access at night time

“It will also provide an improvement in safety for those who use the lane as part of their walking or running route.”

Mid-Western Regional Council mayor Cr Des Kennedy said the funding is a wonderful gesture by the NSW Government to improve activities in the Mudgee region.

“We’ve been battling away with the lighting on this walkway for the last few years,” he said.

“It’s a really popular walkway for the early risers and the people who don’t knock off until 5 o’clock in the afternoon in winter it will be fantastic.”

The $400 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local programs and infrastructure that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
