Better accessibility rain, hail or shine at South Dubbo Oval

The transformation of South Dubbo Oval has reached a major milestone with Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders and Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson today unveiling the refurbished and extended amenities block.

The upgrade was made possible thanks to $350,000 from Round 2 of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, with Dubbo Regional Council contributing an additional $324,154.

Mr Saunders said the upgrade, which has been completed by local contractor Glenn Healey Constructions, delivers a more modern and accessible facility for all users.

“South Dubbo Oval has been the well-loved home of the Dubbo Demons for decades, but the amenities were dated,” Mr Saunders said.

“This complex now includes a disability toilet, all-weather area under a new awning, and the building and access footpath now meet Australian standards.

“This is exactly what the Stronger Country Communities Fund is all about – delivering infrastructure that makes a real difference in our regional communities!”

The refurbishment and extension of the existing amenities building includes the renewal of the two change rooms with toilets and showers, ladies and men’s toilets, and expansion and upgrade of the canteen.

A new disability toilet, referee/official room with toilet and shower have also been included in the expanded building, while an all-weather area, under a new awning, has been created along the field side of the building.

“These improved amenities are another example of collaboration between council, the state government, local sporting groups and local business, delivering a key improvement for this growing sport in our region,” Councillor Dickerson said.

The $500 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $2 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local projects that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
