Things are set to heat up for swimmers young and old at the Trangie Aquatic Centre, thanks to the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant program (LSGP).
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has today announced $15,000 for the Trangie Amateur Swim Club for its Warming up Our Community Champions project.
“The swim season at Trangie can start up to eight weeks later than at other facilities around the region, all because the water is too cold,” Mr Saunders said.
“That means less time for local children to learn to swim, train and just have fun, and the elderly and those with a disability have less access to valuable water-based therapies.
“This grant will deliver a solar heating system at the Trangie Aquatic Centre, giving the community access to their pool for longer!”
Trangie Amateur Swim Club president Ashlea Miles thanked the NSW Government, as well as the Narromine Shire Council and all the community organisations that have been supportive of the project.
“The pool is one summer facility that attracts a lot of people, not just the swim club members,” she said.
“It’s a big project but we’ve worked closely with council and the swim club and the community to achieve our goal.”
