Gulgong’s sporting community will benefit from a new amenities building in Victoria Park, Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has said.
Mr Saunders has announced $446,599 from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) for Mid-Western Regional Council to complete the project.
“Victoria Park is a real hub for the Gulgong community, but it currently doesn’t have an amenities building or change rooms,” Mr Saunders said.
“The construction of a new, inclusive amenities building featuring male and female change rooms – with showers and accessible toilets – as well as a referee’s change room, cleaner’s closet and a kiosk will be a significant improvement to the facility!
“We want to make sure everyone in the community can enjoy the physical, mental and social benefits of sport, and that’s exactly that this project will do!”
Mid-Western Regional Council Mayor Des Kennedy said the new amenities building will see a huge improvement for players and sporting groups in Gulgong.
“The multipurpose ground will now be able to host more sporting events, training and other activities as well as increasing community participation in sport,” Councillor Kennedy said.
“Thank you to the NSW Government for its investment in this great community asset.”
The $660 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $3.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, designed to support growing regional centres, activate local economies and improve services and community infrastructure in the regions.
Over $19.5 million has been committed across the Dubbo electorate since the SCCF program was introduced.
