Clubs and councils across the Dubbo electorate are urged to ‘be in it to win it’ with applications now open for the NSW Government’s sports infrastructure fund.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said funding is available for new and upgraded sports facilities in Round 2 of the $100 million Greater Cities and Regional Sport Facility Fund.
“Sport and exercise are vital for all of our physical and mental wellbeing, and that fact is only more apparent now when we can’t take part in our usual activities,” Mr Saunders said.
“Whether it’s the kids’ footy or netball on a Saturday afternoon or mid-week lawn bowls, sport brings people together.
“We can’t gather down at the footy or the tennis or the basketball right now, but when we can, I want all of our communities to have access to really great facilities and that’s what this fund is all about.”
Mr Saunders said providing facilities that meet community needs and expectations is a priority.
“We welcome inclusive projects that encourage the participation of women and girls and people with a disability,” Mr Saunders said.
The Fund will provide grants from $100,000 up to $1 million to eligible sport and recreation organisations and councils. Eligible projects include lighting, amenity buildings, clubrooms, change rooms and grandstands.
Round 2 is the final round of the program and sporting organisations and councils are urged to apply. The grant application and assessment process will be overseen by an independent probity advisor. Applications open today and close on 8 October 2021. For more details, see: https://www.sport.nsw.gov.au/grants
