Seniors in the Mid-Western Region will have even more reason to celebrate during the 2022 Seniors Festival with Mid-Western Regional Council winning a share of $200,000 in NSW Government funding to host a community event.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the council has received $716 to help run two events at Club Mudgee during Seniors Week in 2022.
“Our seniors play a vital role in our community as volunteers, carers and grandparents and we want to recognise and reward their contribution with activities tailored to their interests,” Mr Saunders said.
“The Mudgee Seniors Week Lunch will include a delicious lunch and the presentation of the Mudgee Senior Citizen of the Year Award, while the Mid-Western Regional Concert and Morning Tea will feature a tasty morning tea and great music from some regional entertainers.
“Local seniors are sure to enjoy the variety of events planned to celebrate them during the Seniors Festival.”
The events and activities will take place during NSW Seniors Festival from 25 March−3 April next year and provide older people with cultural, creative, sporting and recreational opportunities.
Mid-Western Regional Council Manager Community Services, Fiona Shearman thanked the NSW Government for its contribution towards the event.
“We are looking forward to helping older people in our community make the most out of the Seniors Festival by staging engaging activities sure to inspire their interests,” Mrs Shearman said.
