Dubbo residents and visitors alike will benefit from a new amenities block in the city’s popular Victoria Park, Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has said.
Mr Saunders was today joined by Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson to officially announce $403,486 from the Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) for council to complete the project.
“Dubbo’s Victoria Park is a real hub for our community, hosting everything from the DREAM Festival Lantern Parade to council’s annual Australia Day ceremony – it’s even hosted a royal visit!” Mr Saunders said.
“The current public toilets are out-dated and no longer fit-for-purpose, so it’s great to be able to help council replace it with a new amenities block that will be more family and disability-friendly.”
Councillor Dickerson is pleased with the funding.
“Victoria Park is a loved and well-utilised space within our community and plays host to various events throughout the year,” Cr Dickerson said.
“The recently completed playground and fitness equipment have been attracting people of all ages and abilities who require appropriate facilities.
“The existing amenities block has reached its end of life and the $403,486 will allow us to replace it with a modern, more strategically located and inclusive building with changing spaces and a disability toilet.”
The $660 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $3.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, designed to support growing regional centres, activate local economies and improve services and community infrastructure in the regions.
Over $19.5 million has been committed across the Dubbo electorate since the SCCF program was introduced.
