Bringing the taste of the ocean to the bush

Residents across the Dubbo region will get a chance to hook some of the State’s world-class seafood after a series of festivals were launched under the NSW Government’s Eat More Seafood Grants Program.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the Taste of Seafood (TOS) Festival will combine forces with the annual DREAM Festival later this year.

“NSW has some of the best seafood in the world – and now it’s coming to the bush!” Mr Saunders said.

“This festival will be a boon for Dubbo, attracting visitors from across the Central West and Western NSW for a seafood experience we would normally have to travel hundreds of kilometres for.

“It’ll be a great opportunity for people to try new things, support an industry that’s done it tough in recent years, and put some of our top tourism destinations on display in the process!”

The festival will start with a TOS VIP Seafood Soiree the evening of Friday, October 28 at The Exchange, followed by live entertainment and food-to-go as part of the lantern parade on Saturday, October 29.

The main event, the Taste of Seafood Festival, will be held on Sunday, October 30 in Victoria Park with a wide range of seafood dishes and drinks on offer, live entertainment, as well as educational activities and opportunities to meet with commercial fishers and learn more about what they do.

The Taste of Seafood Festivals will also run in Sydney, Bermagui and Ballina later this year, with the remaining events to follow in the first half of 2023.

The Eat More NSW Seafood Program is a partnership between the NSW Government and the NSW Seafood Industry Council to promote the consumption of NSW seafood and help foster greater community awareness and support for the industry.
