Activating eco-tourism at Flirtation Hill

Mudgee is set to add another family-friendly attraction to its abundant tourism offering, thanks to a partnership between the NSW Government and Mid-Western Regional Council.

Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has announced $375,000 from the Regional Tourism Acceleration Fund for the Council to develop tourism infrastructure at Flirtation Hill.

“Mudgee’s a world-class tourism destination thanks to its wine, but it also has a growing number of activities the whole family can enjoy,” Mr Saunders said.

“This project will see the construction of a lookout, parking and amenities, creating a space for tourists and locals alike to enjoy the great outdoors.

“I commend Mid-Western Regional Council on its commitment to diversifying Mudgee’s tourist offering.”

General Manager Brad Cam said Council’s co-contribution would bring the total funding to $750,000.

“The Flirtation Hill Activation Zone will be a fantastic space for the community and something that has been much desired,” Mr Cam said.

“This eco-tourism project will include a viewing platform, security infrastructure (lighting, perimeter bollards and gates), car parking, barbecue, park furniture and tree removal to enhance views.

“I’d like to thank the NSW Government for their contribution that will be matched by Council.”

Would be nice for funding to improve flirtation hill in Gulgong which is used by many locals and tourists that visit our historic town.If you have visited the lookout area you would appreciate the magnificent views of the area and I might note that no trees would have to be moved to improve the area.
